Miami Heat vs Washington Wizards Preview: Odds, Tips and Prediction
Date: Monday 31st March 2025 Start time: 7 pm local time (Midnight BST) Venue: Capital One Arena, Washington D.C. Last meeting: March 3, 2025, Miami Heat 106-90 Washington Wizards. The Washington Wizards host the Miami Heat for Sunday night basketball in an all-Eastern Conference affair. It’s fair to say that neither team are in great form, with the home side, the Washington Wizards, placed as the bottom seed in the East, having lost four games in a row. Despite this, the Heat are somehow worse despite fighting for a play-in spot, winning one of their last ten games.

Head-to-Head Record
This Eastern Conference clash has occurred 146 times in the regular season. The first game between both franchises started in 1989, playing at least three games a season due to sharing the same division.
The Heat have won three games in a row, too, but what’s as impressive is their winning record over the Wizards. The franchise has 99 wins, more than double the wins of the Wizards. Will Miami win their 100th regular season game against Washington?

How is the season so far for both teams?
Washington Wizards
Record | Home Form | Road Form |
15-55 | 7-27 | 8-28 |
As the regular season reaches its final games, the Washington Wizards look likely to end the season as the bottom seed in the East. While this puts them out of contention for the playoffs and the play-in, the organization will receive a high first-round draft pick in the new season. The Wizards have lost four games in a row, too, but could secure an upset win over the Heat.
20-year-old Bilal Coulibaly is in only his second season in the NBA but has been utilised as a starter within the roster. Coulibaly is averaging 12.3 points, 5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game, an impressive stat line considering his lack of experience at the highest level. There is no doubt that he will improve as time goes on, but he will miss the rest of the season due to a right hamstring injury.
Shooting guard Jordan Poole is the roster’s leading scorer, averaging 20.5 points per game. He is averaging the highest he has in his whole career, but only just. His previous record was 20.4 points, but he is posting career-bests in assists and rebounds, too. Poole’s potential can be even better if the franchise can stay injury-free over the year.
Miami Heat
Record | Home Form | Road Form |
30-41 | 16-19 | 14-22 |
As mentioned earlier, the Miami Heat’s recent form is terrible, winning only one of their last ten games in the league. The troubling form has seen them fall to the tenth seed in the East, but they are likely to cling on to the final play-in spot. Their form is the worst in their Conference, but the organization will hope to turn that form around considering it’s almost the end of the regular season.
Point guard Tyler Herro leads the organization in points per game with 23.5. This is a career-high for the 25-year-old, who has found a way to raise his game by an extra gear while averaging his career stats in assists and rebounds. His averages in those departments are 5.6 and 5.3, respectively, indicating that he is their most valuable player. Herro’s scoring stats place him 20th in the NBA.
Andrew Wiggins is evidently enjoying his basketball in his new life on South Beach after being traded away by the Golden State Warriors. Wiggins is averaging 21 points per game, his highest in over six seasons. He even posted a season-high 42 points against the Charlotte Hornets, further bolstering his immense work rate to help his team end their winless drought. Wiggins has featured in 13 games so far, but he has made an instant impression with the Miami faithful.
Value Bets
Jordan Poole: Over 15 Points
Jordan Poole has competed in 12 games against the Miami Heat in his career. Aside from two games where he has posted over 30 points, his game is inconsistent against the franchise, to say the least. Poole’s average is 17.3 points per game; therefore, we predict him to post at least 15 points to be on the safe side.
Andrew Wiggins: Over 15 Points
We predict Andrew Wiggins to complete the same for our second value bet. Wiggins has a career average of 18.8 points per game against the Wizards and has shown his true talent in most of these games. Wiggins’ last game in a blue and yellow Golden State Warriors jersey against the Wizards saw him post 31 points, but before that, he posted only 5 points in a limited-minutes game.
Prediction: Miami Heat to win
Miami Heat’s winless run coming to an end makes us believe they will win this game as well. The organization are firmly in a strong position to end their season in the play-in spots, and with their head-to-head win being incredibly dominant, we believe the Heat will secure their 100th regular season win over the Washington Wizards.
