How is the season so far for both teams?

New York Knicks

The New York Knicks’ bid to claim the second seed off the defending NBA champions, the Boston Celtics, has taken a hit due to their recent form. At time of writing, the franchise’s last ten games see a 6-4 record, including a defeat on their home turf to their upcoming opponents, the Golden State Warriors. 

As mentioned in nearly all previews covering the Knicks, it’s hard to look over the dynamic duo of Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns. 

With Brunson averaging 26.1 points and Towns posting 24.5 points per game, both players are impressive shooters in the entire league. The point guard and the center have established themselves as one of the best duos in the league, and these stats explain why New York is placed third in the East.

Towns will be an important feature for this matchup as the 29-year-old is impressing the league with his numbers as this is his first year in the Big Apple. Towns is averaging 13.4 rebounds per game in addition to his impressive scoring, which places him second overall in the league.

Not only does this form mean the organization are battling for playoffs, but they are now one of the strongest teams in their Conference. 

Butler’s new chapter in San Francisco has seen major positive changes at the franchise. Their run-in form as mentioned previously is a significant factor, but the whole roster are stronger since he joined.  Butler is averaging 17.1 points per game, but is averaging 5 rebounds and 5.4 assists. 

When discussing this preview, we couldn’t not mention their star player, Stephen Curry. Curry has shown the league that he is one of the best players once again, averaging 24.4 points per game, while averaging 6.2 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game. His all-round game is strong, and he looks back to his best now that he has another impressive player complimenting his game. Curry has featured in 54 games this season, but more recently, has shown his shooting skills by averaging vast numbers on a game-by-game basis.

  1. Karl-Anthony Towns - Over 20 Points and Over 10 Rebounds: Karl-Anthony Towns has yet to feature in a Knicks jersey against the Golden State Warriors after missing out on the last game.
