Which NFL Team Has the Most Super Bowl Wins?

The New England Patriots and the Pittsburg Steelers have each won a record six Super Bowls, the most of any NFL franchise. The Steelers won four of their six Super Bowls in the 1970s with their famous “Steel curtain” defensive unit wrecking havoc. On the other hand, all of the Patriot’s Super Bowl titles occurred between 2002 and 2019, with Bill Belichick and Tom Brady at the helm.

Let’s examine these two teams’ Super Bowl victories and revisit the final score of each game.

The Patriots won six Super Bowl titles during the 2000s, maintaining one of the longest and most dominant dynasties in professional sports history. Prior to them being perennial contenders, New England was a mediocre franchise for a long time, losing its first two Super Bowl appearances.

Their fortunes took a turn for the better, with the appointment of Bill Belichick as head coach in 2000 and with their sixth-round draft steal Tom Brady making his NFL debut. The duo quickly made minced meat of their opposition, winning a Super Bowl in their second season together, kicking off a remarkable two-decade run that saw them make nine Super Bowl appearances.

They added back-to-back championships in the 2003 and 2004 campaigns, then won three more together in the 2014, 2016, and 2018 seasons. Along the way, the tandem broke numerous records, but the departure of Brady in early 2020 set the franchise into rebuild mode. They are yet to win a playoff game since.

The Steelers has been one of the NFL’s most consistent franchises.

Spearheaded by Hall of Fame quarterback, Terry Bradshaw and a legendary defensive line nicknamed the “Steel Curtain”, Pittsburgh dominated the NFL during the 1970s. The Steelers made eight straight postseason appearances from 1972 to 1979, winning four Super Bowl titles in the 1974, 1975, 1978 and 1979 seasons.

A near three-decade Super Bowl draught would pursue, before the Steelers restored their dominance in the 2000s.Young quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, won a Super Bowl in his second season in 2005, then added another three years later in 2008.

He lost his third Super Bowl appearance during the 2010 campaign, and the Steelers haven’t returned to the Super Bowl since.
