Scotland vs Wales Preview: Odds, Tips and Prediction
Venue: Murrayfield Stadium Kickoff Time: 15:00 (UK Time) Scotland play Wales in the Six Nations on Saturday, 8 March 2025. Murrayfield will play host, but the visitors arguably need another strong showing more than their hosts do! Neither side has really managed to kick on during this year’s edition of the Six Nations, but in the visitors there seems to be a renewed energy and a lot of promise. The departure of Warren Gatland would have always been seen an inclement improvement, but the turnaround has been incredibly impressive. SportsBoom unpacks everything you need to know ahead of this Six Nations rugby match and includes our Scotland vs Wales prediction.

Scotland Current Form – LLWWW
There is no denying that Scotland have faced significant challenges during the 2025 Six Nations. They have struggled to find a sort of flow to their game and stuttered and stammered under pressure.
They have such a quality side, with players able to turn moments into points all over the pitch, and yet they find themselves currently in 4th with just a single win. Facing both Ireland and England, the Scots were unceremoniously put to the sword – which only increases the pressure and expectation on this encounter.
Key Players to Watch
- Finn Russell: One of the most experienced players in the Scottish lineup, he has come under fire for his sporadic kicking and inconsistent accuracy. Nevertheless, he is a playmaker and can turn defence into attack from almost anywhere on the field. Murrayfield will no doubt be hoping for a positive performance from Scotland’s veteran.
- Sione Tuipulotu: Currently serving as the Scotland captain, he has been brilliant from midfield. He is a strong and dynamic player who has shown a propensity to continually break defensive lines and create opportunities for his country to score valuable points.
- Blair Kinghorn: He is a versatile player who has seemingly split opinion this season. There is no questioning his speed, agility and attacking flair – but in what is becoming a sporting buzz word, his inconsistency has frustrated fans. Nevertheless, he is an asset and what he is capable of makes Scotland better.
Wales Current Form – LLLLL
Has any national, or professional, side struggled as much as this current Welsh team? Is there anyone who can remember the last time they won a game? It really is a challenging time for the Welsh, but there is an indication that they are improving and the proverbial ‘turning of the corner’ is closer than many may think.
Their last game against Ireland was incredible – and that isn’t said light heartedly. They played with belief; the ball was seen to be moving through phases and they put real pressure on the Irish. Furthermore, their response to conceding points was the greatest improvement. They never put their heads down and while many thought their confidence may implode, they just kept responding.
Key Players to Watch
- Jac Morgan: He has now taken on the captaincy role of the Welsh rugby side. In a short period of time, he has shown an improved sense of leadership and commitment to seeing his side improve and this has seemingly permeated through the rest of the team.
- Ellis Mee: His name might be unknown to many, but after his performance against Ireland – there won’t be many in the world of rugby who don’t know who he is. His debut was exceptional, his movement is exciting and his inclusion in the team just makes their backline look all that more dangerous.
- Gareth Anscombe: He has struggled with injury, but given his medical clearance, we think he will be included in the matchday squad against Scotland. He is an experienced playmaker and can often be seen to singlehandedly orchestrate attacking patterns from anywhere on the pitch.
Suggested Bets
Our suggested bets for those who wants to bet on rugby are listed below.
Wales (+11.5): They will come into this game with a lot of confidence after their showing against Ireland. If they are able to replicate that performance, we think they stay within this points handicap. 19/10 (2.9) with BetWinner
Over 50.5 Points: The defensive vulnerabilities of either side have been well documented throughout this Six Nations campaign. Back Over 50.5 points here. 13/10 (2.3) with Stake
Value Bets
Ellis Mee (Player of the Match): This is a big call, but we have been so impressed with the youngster. If he is to consolidate that performance against Ireland, he will likely be a standout performer here and we think he’ll claim Player of the Match. Get on at 7/1 (8.0) with Stake.
Wales Win: Another big call, but Scotland has been largely placid. Wales will need to neutralize the crowd early and if they grow into the game, they could just clinch it. 7/1 (8.0) with 1xBet
Prediction: Wales +11.5
Yes, we have been bullish around this Wales team this weekend, but their improved performance hasn’t been spoken about enough. Confidence is often everything in sport, especially in games where self-belief can take you further than you'd expect. We are backing Wales to put in another magic performance here.
