Head-To-Head
Both have played on the tour five times in the last four years, with their previous clash occurring a month prior at the 2024 Snooker Shootout. Allen fell short of defending his Shootout crown and crashed out in the last 64.
This victory was revenge for Si, who lost in the quarter-final against Allen in the same tournament the previous year, as the Northern Irishman eventually became the champion.
Allen has won the other three meetings. Two 4-1 wins came from the Home Nation Series matches in Wales and his home, Northern Ireland, with their other meeting on Si’s stomping ground at the Wuhan Open. Allen progressed after winning the final two frames from 4-3 down despite leading 3-0.

Player Career Timeline
Mark Allen
- Ranking Seed: 5
- Masters Champion: 2018
Mark Allen has had two runs to ranking semi-finals this season at the 2024 British Open, and the UK Championship. With a run to the fifth round of the Saudi Arabia Masters and a quarter-final at the English Open, he is ranked 13th in the one-year rankings. Allen also reached the semi-finals of the 2024 Champions of Champions, almost emulating his winning runs from 2020 and 2023.
Allen’s record at the Masters, however, saw a five-year consecutive period of first-round defeats from 2019 to 2023. He won the tournament for the very first time in 2018, and his next game won in the one-table setup competition arrived in the 2024 edition. Allen persevered to defeat John Higgins and Mark Selby 6-5 before losing to Ali Carter in the semi-finals.

Si Jiahui
- Ranking Seed: 14
- Masters Best Result: Debutant
Si Jiahui enters the 2025 Masters as one of the debutants after his busiest year on the tour in his career thus far. The 22-year-old has played in every event and is edging closer towards his first ranking title win, having reached the semi-finals of the very first Saudi Arabia Masters. He reached the final of the Wuhan Open not long after, and in his semi-final match with Judd Trump, he posted his first televised maximum break. Full of praise, Trump labelled Si’s win as “the best performance there has been against me, by quite far”.
As a result of these runs, Si has found himself in the highest position in the rankings since turning professional in 2019. The young star is highly rated amongst those involved in the sport, and this is a historic occasion, considering it’s his first time featuring at the Alexandra Palace for this triple crown event.
Si’s potential is evident, but his recent win over Allen finally ends a four-match losing streak, albeit in a single-frame encounter at the Shootout. Irrespective of the format, it could be suggested that an elusive win will allow him to kick on in the bigger tournaments, such as this one considering the gravitas of the Masters.

Value Bets
Either Player to Win Successive Frames – Mark Allen: SportsBoom predicts Allen to win successive frames in this match. Two of their previous matches saw Allen win 4-1 and he previously won three in a row at the Wuhan Open. When Allen’s on song and has the momentum, he is a very tough player to beat and opportunities on the green baize are few and far between.
Total Frames – Under 9.5: This matchup should be finished in under 9.5 frames. This is the first time both players meet in a best-of-11 frame contest and a triple crown event. Therefore, nerves could be high for debutant Si, but it is expected to be a closer game than perhaps meets the eye, considering Allen’s strong record over him.
Total Frames Even/Odd – Odd: With our prediction of the match finishing in under 9.5 frames, the total number of frames could fall on an odd number. All previous matches have ended in an odd number – the likelihood and probability of another odd number of frames game will be higher due to the recent record between these two snooker talents.
Prediction: 6-3 Allen
SportsBoom predicts a 6-3 win for Allen. Si will give it his best shot on his debut and will have gained significant confidence after finding that elusive win at the Shootout, but Allen will be able to win due to knowing the conditions at the tournament and having gone all the way to victory himself. This tie should provide fantastic entertainment.
