World champion Kyren Wilson fancies a crack at the I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here jungle — but only if he’s allowed a deck of UNO cards!

The ‘Warrior’ heads to York’s Barbican Centre as one of the favourites to land this year’s UK Championship, one of the sport’s coveted Triple Crown majors.

Wilson and wife Sophie have been gripped by this year’s series down under, which features the likes of Coleen Rooney, McFly’s Danny Jones, N-Dubz’s Tulisa Constostavlos and boxing trainer Barry McGuigan.

WILSON FANCIES FOLLOWING LEGENDS JIMMY WHITE AND STEVE DAVIS INTO THE BUSH

Green baize legends Jimmy White, who finished third, and Steve Davis, who came fifth, were big hits when they starred on the show.

But Wilson has already revealed a flaw in his masterplan, a fear of spiders.

“Absolutely, I’d love a stint in the Jungle,” world No.2 Wilson told SportsBoom.com.

“It’s quite funny actually. I’m a big fan of the show and I was watching it with my wife and it was the episode where their families were giving them a luxury item each...Sophie said she would give me a game of UNO."

“The only problem for me is the UK Championship will always take priority."

“I know Jimmy White and Steve Davis have had a dabble with it, but they were coming to the end of their careers respectively. Both did quite well out there and people liked them."

“I always like testing myself so I’d definitely give it a go. I’ve sky-dived from 13,000 feet before so I’ve ticked that one off. But I think fear wise it would be spiders, I’m not a fan of spiders!”

WILSON GUTTED BROTHER HAS BRAGGING RIGHTS

Wilson travels on the World Snooker Tour with brother, and manager, Taylor and they are regularly embroiled in competitive stints of UNO as they unwind away from the table at tournaments.

The Kettering cueman added: “Anyone can get involved, it’s such an easy game to play. There are so many twists and turns."

"There’s a new version of it called UNO Flips where the cards turn around. You could potentially pick up more cards than the old traditional game so that’s the one we play."

“We obviously travel a lot for snooker tournaments so for the long-haul flights to China and things like that there's no better feeling than when I’ve got Taylor fishing out 22 cards."

“It certainly kills time on the flights and in between matches when you’ve got downtime at events."

“We play for little wagers and at the end of an event we sort of cash it in. I think I’m about £90 down from the last two events so I’m not a happy boy at the moment! I need to up my game.”

Wilson has failed to fire in York in previous years with just one semi-final from 11 appearances a poor return for a player of his calibre.

But the 32-year-old is a different proposition since conquering the Crucible back in May and has already pocketed silverware this season with wins at the Xi’an Grand Prix and Northern Ireland Open.

He kicks off his chase for the £250,000 top prize, and more importantly one of the game’s major gongs, against Scottish qualifier Stephen Maguire — champion 20 years ago — on Monday.
