The Rocket Tops Trump
In a stunning comeback, Ronnie O'Sullivan triumphed over Judd Trump with a 10-7 victory in the final of the 2024 Spreadex World Grand Prix. The Rocket, as O'Sullivan is fondly known, displayed resilience and skill to overcome a 4-0 deficit and secure his 41st ranking title.
The match started with Trump dominating the first session, claiming all frames and establishing a formidable 4-0 lead. However, O'Sullivan, known for his legendary comebacks, managed to bounce back, ending the afternoon's play trailing 5-3.
The turning point came as O'Sullivan found his rhythm, eventually reeling off six consecutive frames to take the lead. Trump's missed opportunities, including a crucial black in frame 14 and a brown in the next, proved pivotal in O'Sullivan's comeback.
O’Sullivan’s Lifestyle Adjustments
In a post-match interview with BBC Sport, O'Sullivan shared insights into his remarkable victory. He credited a change in his lifestyle during the week, stating, "I enjoyed that. The start of the week, I was feeling a bit rough, and then I bought myself an air fryer and a smoothie maker. I started eating a bit better."
Addressing Trump’s Warrior Spirit
Acknowledging Trump's prowess, O'Sullivan remarked, "You have to battle against Judd because he is a warrior. For me, he is the favourite for the World Championship this year - he is strong."

"I've got a lot of experience now; I've won a lot of tournaments and been around a while. I've learned a lot about the game, and I'm just probably a better all-round player than I have ever been."
The Pinnacle of a 41st Ranking Title
This victory not only earned O'Sullivan £100,000 but also showcased his ability to thrive under pressure and reaffirmed his status as one of snooker's all-time greats.
