Playing sport professionally is a big-money career and tennis is no exception.

From tournament winnings to sponsorship and endorsement deals, the upper ranks of the ATP and WTA are making mega money on the court.
To use an example, Roger Federer was included in Forbes’ ranking of the highest-paid athletes for three years until the 2024 list was released.
While earning a place at a Grand Slam is the lucrative ultimate goal, many tennis players can still earn decent rewards in association series.
This time around, SportsBoom has looked at the biggest earners in men’s and women’s tennis currently and also the top earners of all-time.
Ranking the Richest Tennis Stars: Current Generation
In January 2025, the first tennis major of the year took place.
The Australian Open men’s draw saw Jannik Sinner defend his title against Alexander Zverev, while Madison Keys overcame Aryna Sabalenka in the women’s draw.
The next three majors take place between May and September.
With these tournaments most likely to affect the current ATP and WTA rankings, SportsBoom looks at the top stars, as of the first major tournament in Melbourne.

Carlos Alcaraz

Another quarter-final defeat at the Australian Open meant the Spanish star would need to wait another year to try and complete his Career Grand Slam.
However, Carlos Alcaraz remains very much in demand.
While Novak Djokovic has the edge in terms of prize money, the youngster is earning significantly from endorsements such as Rolex and BMW.
Impressively, this makes him the top earner outside of the tennis ‘big three’.
That money is not just for personal enrichment either - he launched the Carlos Alcaraz Garfia Foundation last year to ease the burden on disadvantaged children.
His new tennis coach Samuel Lopez would be banking on his compatriot too.
At the age of 19, Carlos Alcaraz is the youngest player to reach the ATP’s number one position, a record formerly held by Aussie legend Lleyton Hewitt.
Novak Djokovic

The Serbian veteran has become an undeniable figure in the annals of tennis history, ranked alongside Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer as the so-called ‘big three’.
Some might argue that his success at the highest level places him at the top.
Novak Djokovic holds the record for the most men’s majors singles titles (24) and is the only man to have completed a triple Career Grand Slam.
His winnings alone have placed him at the top of the highest-paid list.
Off the court, his endorsement deals with brands like Seiko, Peugeot and Lacoste have earned him millions, as have documentary series looking deeper into his personal life.
He founded the Novak Djokovic Foundation to assist disadvantaged children.
Jannik Sinner

Although the world #1 serving a three-month World Anti-Doping Agency suspension, he has found tremendous success in professional tennis.
In January, the Italian star successfully defended his Australian Open title.
Powerful from the serve and able to generate incredible spin off the racquet, Jannik Sinner is currently poised as the top men’s singles player currently.
As such, many brands have pushed to have him as their representative.
His sponsorship and endorsement deals include L’Oreal’s La-Roche Posay sunscreen brand, Formula 1 and a long-term deal with Nike signed in 2022.
Sinner is also the face of Italy’s 2026 Winter Olympics volunteer program.
Coco Gauff

At just 20 years old, the sky could well be the limit for rising star Coco Gauff, who is the youngest player in Wimbledon history to qualify for the main draw.
She was only 15 at the time and even defeated Venus Williams.
In 2023, Gauff won the US Open on home soil and would be aiming to go one better than finalist at the French Open and semi-finalist at the Australian Open.
The American’s aggressive style of play is complemented by her athleticism.
As such, she has attracted sponsorship deals from New Balance and ambassadorial deals from companies hoping to capitalise on Gauff’s continued success.

The biggest stars and their impressive career earnings
It’s somewhat unsurprising that Novak Djokovic heads the list of all-time earnings, given his status as a serial Grand Slam champion.
As might also be expected, the legendary duo of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have also racked up millions from tournament wins.
Serena Williams is the first woman on the list of career earnings thanks to her status as one of the finest players in female tennis history.
Andy Murray is perhaps the first surprise entry on the list, with only three major victories, but is among Great Britain’s greatest tennis stars.
As the tennis world turns its eyes to the French Open later this year, active players will have a chance to extend their riches in tennis.
