Ireland’s Next MMA Star?

In a highly anticipated showdown at OKTAGON 56, Irish sensation Denis Frimpong emerged victorious over Bradford's own Callum Mullen at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham. The clash between these two rising stars captivated fans, but it was Frimpong's tenacity and precision that ultimately secured him the win by unanimous decision.

Frimpong, known for his flamboyant persona both in and out of the cage, showcased his prowess as he outclassed Mullen throughout the bout. Despite Mullen's impressive record and previous championship titles, Frimpong's dominance was evident as he landed over 50 more significant shots than his opponent.

Frimpong’s Honest Assessment

In an exclusive interview with SportsBoom.com, Frimpong shared his thoughts on his performance and his rivalry with Mullen. "I don't really ever go in there with a game plan," he stated candidly. "I go in there to f*****g hit the sh*t out of someone and not get hit, and I didn't get hit too much. So yeah, easy win."

Reflecting on his attempt to secure a knockout victory, Frimpong expressed some disappointment but acknowledged Mullen's resilience. "There was a point where I was like, great, he's not going away, and tried to rush for a knockout," he explained. "But he stuck in there, but I probably should have knocked him out, fair play to him."

Respect, or Lack of it!

Despite the heated rivalry between the two fighters, Frimpong extended an olive branch to Mullen after the fight, but it was not reciprocated. "I’ve given him a lot of stick in the lead up, so I wanted to give him respect at the end," Frimpong remarked. "He’s obviously upset, and so he should be he’s 0-3 in OKTAGON. He’s going to be fighting in small cages on small shows again, and I’m going forward in my career."

Future Aspirations: Frimpong's Teases and Hopes

Looking ahead to the future, Frimpong teased his preferred opponent and expressed his hopes of being featured on the OKTAGON 58 card at Eden Park. "Ondřej Petrášek at OKTAGON 58," he revealed. "The owners know what’s up. We need to get that going."
